Something astonishing just happened to me. I just completed the fastest trip to the DMV, ever. I don’t know what to do with myself now. I’m sitting in the parking lot looking through my papers to make sure I really did just go inside.
I was so prepared for a long, grueling stand in line. I brought a drink, I have my good headphones, loaded up a few podcasts to keep me busy … but I’ve no use for them now.
There were three other customers in the building, and while two were already being serviced, the third was called just as I stepped behind him.
I was called, taken care of, and back out the door in *four* minutes flat. I haven’t checked with Guinness yet, but I’m pretty sure that ihe fastest DMV trip in the history of mankind. It took me longer than that just to write this post!
Ok but seriously now I have to go before I get stuck in too much traffic.

Well not the road so much as the chair in front of my desk. But I wanted to be sure I can do more than just tweet on the sidebar while we do some traveling coming up here shortly. Hooray for mobile posting.
I’ve been tweaking the design here a bit lately, and I am noticing quite a lag in page load time. It would appear all the remote calls to flickr would be to blame, and I suppose that’s understandable, given the fact only five of the last thirty posts have had any textual content. I am considering splitting to a text-only and an image-only setup for more efficient usability.
Meh, we’ll see.
Vindigo is a city-specific guide designed for PDAs / cell phones, whose function is to keep you updated with where to go to eat, drink, be entertained, etc. I used Vindigo when the service first came out, back in ‘99. I’ve been rocking some flavor of Palm device for ages, and the guides really were pretty handy. I just logged into the Vindigo site to check it out again, and was greeted by this notification:

So that’s it. Briefed and inspected, signed out, now on leave. For the next thirty days I get to pretend I am not actually in the Army, and, more importantly, I don’t have to see any of the people who raise my blood pressure.
